Just Another Night on the Dirty-9
Just another night
on the Dirty-9 in
KC/MO (Mid-
July and what must be damn
near a hundred-plus
degrees) and it looks like the
mental hospital
down the street has released the
latest squadron of
recent detainees on their
own recognizance
and supervision and the
old street corner
preacher in the Superman
suit is witnessing
and testifying his heart
out for the lord and
the cabby is getting a
hot tip on a horse
from the hotdog vendor, and
a woman wearing
clip-on devil horns and a
black feather boa
is promenading down the
street with a long neck
bottle of beer in her hand
and a sweet little
smirk on her face, and are we
all not just wayward
characters wandering through
the dark medieval
forest of our own minds with
an old-fashion oil
lamp that barely stays lit as
we are all just try to
navigate our way along
the path as best we can?
